Open Rhinoplasty
A small incision is made across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils) under the nose. This allows the most visibility for Dr. Hua during surgery — ideal for more complex reshaping.

Closed Rhinoplasty

No. Anesthesia is administered throughout the entire procedure, so patients do not feel any pain or discomfort during surgery.
Rhinoplasty generally takes two to three hours to perform, though the exact time depends on the specific corrections being made.
Yes — rhinoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Because you will still be under the effects of anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you home.
Surgical procedures that require incisions generally leave some extent of scarring. However, incisions are placed inside the nose or on the columella between the nostrils to keep scarring as inconspicuous as possible.
Stitches are typically removed six or seven days after surgery.
Most patients need about one week of downtime before returning to work. Strenuous exercise and physical activity should be avoided until your surgeon confirms at a follow-up appointment that your nose has healed properly.
Results become more evident as swelling subsides over the following weeks and months. It may take up to a year to see the final result of your rhinoplasty.
